Back
Date: 9/16/2019
Place: Gravel Springs, MS
Glen Faulkner is probably the last person who still plays traditional diddley-bows, which he learned from his uncle Napoleon Strickland. Since then, he has been inheriting this beautiful Mississippi Blues tradition and he has never played any other instruments.
At the recording session, he played a diddley-bow which he got from his neighbor, and we recorded many tunes from "My Babe", "I'm Going Home on the Morning Train" to some Christmas songs such as "Joy to the World" and "Little Drummer Boy". He also played the National Anthem, and said it was his dream to play the Anthem on Memphis Grizzlies games at FedEX Forum someday.
